The Assam Cabinet on 24 September 2026 decided to give Rs 1,500 to Orunodoi beneficiaries for October instead of the regular Rs 1,250.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma described the extra amount as a gift on the occasion of Durga Puja.
The meeting was held at Lok Sewa Bhawan in Guwahati.
Orunodoi is the state's flagship scheme, launched in 2020, providing monthly direct benefit transfers to women from economically disadvantaged families.
The Chief Minister said a similar initiative will be taken for Rongali Bihu in April.
