Austria's recovery and resilience plan: 4.187 billion euros, 34 investments and 29 reforms
Background
The European Commission's country page for Austria's recovery and resilience plan values the plan at 4.187 billion euros, of which 3.961 billion euros are grants.
The plan contains 34 investment streams and 29 reforms.
56 per cent of the plan is allocated to climate objectives and 36 per cent to the digital transition.
Austria received 450 million euros in pre-financing, and its first payment request was approved for 700 million euros.
Five payment requests have been submitted in all, the fifth being the final one.
All milestones and targets had to be completed by August 2026, as the Recovery and Resilience Facility Regulation requires of every member state.
This is the framework within which the Commission cleared Austria's closing payment, and it explains why the money arrives in instalments rather than at once.
In plain words
