Behind EPFO Kochi's ranking: the Central Board of Trustees and the three schemes the EPFO runs
Background
EPFO's Kochi Regional Office has ranked fourth in India and first in Kerala in the Employees' Enrolment Campaign; here is how the organisation is governed.
The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is governed by the Central Board of Trustees (CBT), EPF.
The CBT is chaired by the Union Minister for Labour and Employment.
The Union Minister of State for Labour serves as Vice-Chairman and the Secretary, Labour and Employment, as Co-Chairman.
The Central Provident Fund Commissioner is the Board's Member Secretary.
The EPFO runs three schemes: the Employees' Provident Fund Scheme, 1952, the Employees' Pension Scheme, 1995 and the Employees' Deposit Linked Insurance Scheme, 1976.
The Board approves the EPFO's annual report and audited accounts, which go to Parliament through the Government.
In plain words
