26 September 2026
Canada's Foreign Minister Anita Anand addressed the UN General Assembly on 26 September 2026. She described the upheaval in the global order as a "rupture, not a transition". She said Canada would pursue greater "strategic autonomy" and "values-based realism", diversifying its economic and diplomatic partners. She said Canada and partners had launched a "Partners for Multilateralism" initiative to support reform of the UN and other international institutions. She reaffirmed support for Ukraine and a negotiated two-State solution, and highlighted Arctic security. She mentioned renewed partnerships with India and China as part of trade diversification.
