European Commission disburses 1.24 billion euro to Ukraine for drones and missiles

The European Commission disbursed 1.24 billion euro to Ukraine on 8 October 2026 under the defence component of the Ukraine Support Loan. The money funds drones, drone interceptors, drone ammunition and missiles made by Ukrainian companies. The Ukraine Support Loan is worth 90 billion euro in all, and its defence strand provides 60 billion euro on an indicative basis over 2026 and 2027. Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said Russia is continuing its deliberate strategy of terror, trying to make daily life unbearable for Ukrainians.
