Jharkhand calls a two-day special Assembly session on the electoral roll revision and the amended mining law
27 October 2026
Jharkhand will hold a two-day special session of its Legislative Assembly on November 25 and 26. The Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, approved the dates. The subjects listed are the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls being carried out by the Election Commission of India, the amended Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, together with changes to the schedule of the Jharkhand Mineral Bearing Land Cess Act, 2024. The government intends to send a resolution to the Centre after the House has debated them. A Special Intensive Revision is a house-to-house check of the electoral roll, going beyond the routine summary revision. The MMDR Act is the central law that governs mineral concessions, royalty and the auction of mineral blocks, and Jharkhand has pressed the Centre to reconsider the amendments because of their effect on the State's own mineral revenue.
