Kerala State Biodiversity Board brings out a Red List assessment of the State's unique ecosystems

The Kerala State Biodiversity Board has released a policy document titled 'Red List Assessment of Ecosystems and Global Ecosystem Typology of Kerala's Unique Ecosystems'.
Environment Minister Sunny Joseph released the compilation at a function in his chamber in the Secretariat.
The study was taken up as part of the State government's 100-day action plan.
It applies the standards of the IUCN Red List of Ecosystems Version 2.0 at the State level.
The assessment covers ecosystems from the Western Ghats highlands down to river basins, coastal stretches and wetlands.
The analysis used Google Earth Engine, Sentinel satellite imagery, statistical analysis in R and mapping in QGIS.

Released by: Kerala State Biodiversity Board Standard applied: IUCN Red List of Ecosystems Version 2.0 Minister: Sunny Joseph, Environment
Why it matters for exams: The IUCN Red List of Ecosystems is distinct from the better-known Red List of species, and a State-level application of it is a likely question.
