North and Middle Andaman district notifies its Quarry Plan

The Deputy Commissioner of North and Middle Andaman district has issued a notification regarding the Quarry Plan for the district. The notification is listed on the Andaman and Nicobar Administration's What's New page. A quarry or district survey plan sets out where sand, stone and other minor minerals may be extracted, how much, and under what conditions. Mining in India is governed by the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957; minor minerals such as building stone, gravel and ordinary sand are regulated by rules made by the State or Union Territory, while major minerals are regulated by the Centre. North and Middle Andaman is one of the three districts of the Union Territory, with its headquarters at Mayabunder.
