Poland places Lviv councillor Sviatoslav Sheremeta on its register of undesirable foreigners
21 October 2026
Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said he had signed the request to place Sviatoslav Sheremeta, a member of the Lviv Regional Council, on Poland's list of undesirable persons. Interior Minister Marcin Kierwinski confirmed that Sheremeta had been entered in the register of undesirable foreigners. The entry carries a ban on entering and staying in the countries of the Schengen Area, which comprises 29 European countries. The ban runs for five years, until 20 October 2031. Sheremeta had proposed honouring the UPA commander Roman Shukhevych. Marcin Bosacki, deputy foreign minister, said officials close to Ukraine's president had assured Warsaw that the Lviv resolution would not take effect.
