Public Works Minister opens the ₹5.6 crore Thuvvakkad bridge at Edavanna in Malappuram

Public Works Minister P. K. Basheer inaugurated the Thuvvakkad bridge in Edavanna panchayat, Malappuram district, on October 1, 2026. The bridge was built at a cost of ₹5.6 crore, is 9 metres wide and carries footpaths on both sides. Landowners along the alignment gave up land voluntarily for the approach roads, which the Minister acknowledged at the function. He said the bridge gives permanent relief to residents who had faced difficulty in crossing. The Minister also said a bridge is being built at Aryanthodika at a cost of ₹31.43 crore, with tender steps beginning this month, the tender to be opened in November and construction expected to start in the first week of December, and that a further bridge across the Chaliyar is planned in Edavanna panchayat.
