Punjab Vidhan Sabha's session opens with obituary references and the House adjourns within minutes on the first day

The session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha began on 22 October 2026 and is scheduled to run to 27 October, a six-day session.
24 and 25 October are weekend days and 26 October is a gazetted holiday, so the House does not sit on those days.
The tentative schedule began with obituary references to people who died since the previous session.
On the first day the House paid tribute to anti-drug activist Parminder Singh Jhota, who was shot dead in Mansa on 13 October, and to eight MGNREGA workers killed in a road accident in Sangrur district, and adjourned after about nine minutes.
