Queensland reports a record of more than 52,500 homes under construction
11 October 2026
On 11 October 2026 Queensland Premier David Crisafulli and Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie said more than 52,500 homes were under construction in the state. They cited Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) figures for the quarter to June, the fourth consecutive record quarter for Queensland's housing pipeline. The number of homes under construction rose 35.6 per cent in two years, and completions rose 4.2 per cent over the same period. The state government said its Residential Activation Fund included a $136 million investment in the Chambers Flat Wastewater Treatment Plant in Logan to unlock 20,000 homes. Queensland's longer-term target is 1 million homes, including 53,500 social and community homes by 2044.
