Ranthambore's male tiger T-108 'Jai' under watch after fresh facial injuries

Forest officials are monitoring Jai, a nine-year-old male tiger in Ranthambore, after fresh facial injuries; a territorial clash with another male is suspected but not confirmed.
Known as T-108, Jai is the offspring of tigress T-8, Ladli, and male tiger T-34, Kumbha; Ranthambore National Park DFO Manas Singh said teams were monitoring his movements and health.
The reserve spans 1,334 square kilometres and has 10 core safari zones, where around 55 to 60 tigers are regularly sighted.
A Wildlife Institute of India study estimated that Ranthambore's core and the neighbouring Sawai Man Singh Sanctuary could sustain at most 40 adult tigers.
The population has since risen beyond 75, raising concerns over territorial overlap.
