Sawan Barwal won silver in the men's marathon at the Asian Games on 26 September 2026. The Prime Minister's Office said the run set a new National Record. It is India's first medal in the event in over four decades. It is also the country's first-ever Asian Games marathon medal won outside India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated him on the achievement.
