Sports kits were distributed to 385 athletes at the Khelega Himachal, Khilega Himachal event at Bachat Bhawan in Hamirpur. The event was organised under the Nehru Yuva Kendra to encourage youth participation in sports, improve rural sports infrastructure and promote a lifestyle free from substance abuse. Former Union Minister Anurag Thakur, who distributed the kits, said adequate financial resources, staff and infrastructure must be ensured before any decision on creating new districts, and that several existing blocks and subdivisions lack adequate facilities. He said strengthening the current administrative system should be the priority and that any expansion of administrative units should aim to improve public convenience and service delivery.
