The Joint Defence Coordination Committee, INSAS rifles for the Kenya Navy and an MRI machine: the India-Kenya defence track

Defence cooperation between India and Kenya is steered by a Joint Defence Coordination Committee.
The committee has met four times: in February 2019 in India, in November 2022 in Nairobi, in September 2024 in New Delhi, and from 24 to 26 February 2026 in Nairobi.
In April 2026 India gifted 100 INSAS rifles and 50,000 rounds of ammunition to the Kenya Navy.
A Quick Impact Project agreement for a 1.5 Tesla magnetic resonance imaging machine for the Kenya Defence Forces was signed on 7 April 2026.
In August 2023 India gifted 15 parachutes to Kenya's Ministry of Defence.

Joint mechanism: Joint Defence Coordination Committee Meetings held: Four, the latest in Nairobi Gift to Kenya Navy: 100 INSAS rifles, 50,000 rounds MRI machine: 1.5 Tesla, agreement signed 7 April 2026
Why it matters for exams: India's defence outreach in Africa is an International Relations topic, and the name of the joint mechanism with Kenya is the kind of detail an examiner picks.
