Ukraine sits in the World Trade Organization as a full member, but in the European Union only as a candidate
Background
The World Trade Organization records that Ukraine has been a member of the WTO since 16 May 2008.
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine likewise records that Ukraine became a member of the WTO on May 16, 2008.
WTO accession brought Ukraine new trade agreements and markets, and new ways to consult and settle disputes with trade partners.
Ukraine is also a member of the United Nations, the Council of Europe and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe.
Ukraine is not a member of the European Union and holds candidate status only.
