The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) released the publication 'Sources and Methods for Compilation of National Accounts Statistics' on 21 September 2026.
It sets out the concepts, data sources and methods used in the New Series of National Accounts Statistics with base year 2022-23.
The new series was released on 27 February 2026 and updated on 31 August 2026; it replaces the 2011-12 series and is the eighth base-year revision.
The revision was guided by the Advisory Committee on National Accounts Statistics (ACNAS), chaired by Prof. B.N. Goldar and constituted on 27 June 2024.
Household-sector estimates now come directly from two MoSPI surveys, ASUSE and PLFS.
Private Final Consumption Expenditure follows the UN's COICOP 2018 classification, and quarterly GDP uses the Proportional Denton approach.
