Aalto Works becomes Finland's eighth World Heritage property with thirteen sites

The Finnish Heritage Agency has recorded that Aalto Works has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List as Finland's eighth World Heritage property. Aalto Works is a serial property of thirteen sites designed by Alvar, Aino and Elissa Aalto, completed between 1928 and 1988. The sites stand in both urban and rural locations across Finland. The inscription was made by the World Heritage Committee at its meeting in Busan. Before this, Finland had seven World Heritage properties, six of them cultural and one natural. Finland's other listed properties include the Fortress of Suomenlinna, Old Rauma, Petäjävesi Old Church, the Verla Groundwood and Board Mill, the Bronze Age Burial Site of Sammallahdenmäki, the Struve Geodetic Arc and the High Coast and Kvarken Archipelago.
