Amar Jawan Stambh at Rajiv Smriti Van: Chhattisgarh marks Police Commemoration Day for its fallen personnel
21 October 2026
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai paid floral tribute to fallen police and security personnel on Police Commemoration Day at the Amar Jawan Stambh in Shaheed Vatika, inside the Rajiv Smriti Van in Raipur, and honoured the families of the dead. He said the bravery and sacrifice of security personnel have brought a new era of peace to Chhattisgarh, and that gains against Naxalism reflect the courage of the police and the security forces. Peace and development are now reaching remote parts of Bastar that once lived with fear and violence, he said, and the government is committed to the dignity and welfare of the families of those killed in the line of duty. Police Commemoration Day is observed across India on 21 October in memory of the police party ambushed at Hot Spring in Ladakh in 1959. For a State that has lost a large number of personnel to left wing extremism, the day carries particular weight.
