'Ammaykkoppam' pilot to find mothers with postpartum depression launched in Ernakulam

Women and Child Development Minister Bindu Krishna inaugurated the Ernakulam district launch of 'Ammaykkoppam', a Women and Child Development Department project to identify women with postpartum depression through an online survey and ensure them mental health support and care. The project has been started as a pilot, with the aim of keeping both mother and child safe, and is to be extended across the State if it succeeds. The Minister said postpartum depression is not the mother's fault and arises from physical and mental changes, including hormonal changes. She said the State government would soon announce a women's policy and implement it after discussions with stakeholders.
