Elections to the Mising and Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Councils to be held in November

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced after the Cabinet meeting on 24 September 2026 that elections to the Mising Autonomous Council and the Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council will be held in November.
The Cabinet the same day also allotted 256 bighas of government land at Pratapgarh for a College of Agriculture at Patharkandi in Sribhumi district, under Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat.
