Floating Post Office on Dal Lake in Srinagar now stays open from 9 am to 9 pm

The Department of Posts has lengthened the working day of the Floating Post Office on Dal Lake in Srinagar. The office, at Nehru Park, will now serve customers from 9 am to 9 pm. It is described as the only floating post office in India and is also a popular stop for tourists. The change follows a good public response to longer hours at the Lal Chowk Head Post Office, which already works from 9 am to 9 pm. Col Sagar Hanuman Singh, the Chief Postmaster General for Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, toured the office and spoke to customers before the decision. Officials said residents, tourists and houseboat operators would benefit, and more post offices in the region may get longer hours.
