Fourteen Subject Committees divide the Kerala Niyamasabha's work by department

The Kerala Legislative Assembly is in session, and much of its detailed scrutiny happens in committees rather than on the floor of the House.
The Kerala Legislature's own committee list runs from Subject Committee I to Subject Committee XIV, each covering a group of departments.
Subject Committee I takes Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries; Subject Committee III takes Water Resources; Subject Committee VI takes Education; Subject Committee XII takes Health and Family Welfare; and Subject Committee XIV takes Home Affairs.
The financial committees are separate: the Committee on Public Accounts, the Committee on Estimates, the Committee on Public Undertakings and the Committee on Local Fund Accounts.
Procedural committees include the Business Advisory Committee, the Committee on Subordinate Legislation, the Committee on Government Assurances, the Committee on Papers Laid on Table and the Committee on Privileges and Ethics.
There are also welfare committees, among them the Committee on Welfare of Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe, the Committee on Welfare of Fishermen and Allied Workers and the Committee on Welfare of Senior Citizens.

Subject Committees: Subject Committee I to Subject Committee XIV Financial committees: Public Accounts, Estimates, Public Undertakings, Local Fund Accounts Health and Family Welfare: Subject Committee XII Home Affairs: Subject Committee XIV
Why it matters for exams: Questions on the Kerala legislature often turn on which committee scrutinises delegated rules and which handles state accounts.
