German gross domestic product rises 0.2 per cent in the third quarter, says the Federal Statistical Office
30 October 2026
Germany's Federal Statistical Office, known as Destatis, released its first estimate for the third quarter of 2026.
Gross domestic product rose by 0.2 per cent against the second quarter, after adjustment for price, seasonal and calendar effects.
Measured against the third quarter of 2025, price-adjusted GDP was 1.3 per cent higher, and 1.2 per cent higher once calendar effects were also taken out.
The office said final consumption expenditure increased slightly over the previous quarter, while capital formation fell on the provisional figures.
Export growth, which had been very strong in the first half of 2026, slowed noticeably in the third quarter.
Destatis is the central statistical authority of the Federal Republic of Germany and publishes the national accounts.
The detailed results for the quarter are due on 25 November 2026.
