Germany's 2027 federal budget goes before the Bundestag with defence spending set to pass 109 billion euro

Germany's draft federal budget for 2027 went to the Bundestag for debate after Federal Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil presented it to the chamber.
The federal cabinet had adopted the budget together with the financial plan running to 2030.
Defence spending is planned to rise to over 109 billion euro in 2027, on top of what comes from the Special Fund for the Federal Armed Forces.
About 118 billion euro in all is set aside for the government's investment drive.
That includes over 36 billion euro of federal investment from the Special Fund for Infrastructure and Climate Neutrality.
It also includes 10 billion euro for the Climate and Transformation Fund and around 8 billion euro to support the federal states and local authorities.
The Bundestag is the chamber that debates and adopts the federal budget in Germany.

Why it matters for exams: The durable facts are that German defence spending is planned to exceed 109 billion euro in 2027, that about 118 billion euro is set aside for investment, that Lars Klingbeil is the Federal Finance Minister, and that the Bundestag adopts the federal budget.
