IIT Kharagpur Director Prof. Suman Chakraborty is elected a Fellow of The World Academy of Sciences

The Ministry of Education has announced that the head of IIT Kharagpur, Professor Suman Chakraborty, now joins the fellowship of The World Academy of Sciences, and he takes that fellowship from January 1, 2027. What the honour recognises, the Ministry said, is his research record together with his long effort to carry science forward in the developing world. Congratulations reached him in a formal letter signed by the President of the academy, Professor Quarraisha Abdool Karim. Building research strength in poorer countries, and pushing scientific excellence, is what this international academy exists to do.
