J&K universities get six months to roll out the Design Your Degree programme

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has given universities across Jammu and Kashmir six months to put the Design Your Degree programme in place. He was presiding over the Jammu and Kashmir Higher Education Council (JKHEC) when it met at Lok Bhavan. The reform is linked to the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The Council discussed sharing academic credits, research laboratories and other resources between institutions. The undergraduate and postgraduate courses are to be restructured under the Design Your Degree framework. The meeting also looked at setting up a task force to bring artificial intelligence and data science into the curriculum. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah attended the meeting.

Deadline: six-month Policy: NEP 2020
Why it matters for exams: NEP 2020 reforms such as sharing academic credits, and the role of the Lieutenant Governor in Jammu and Kashmir, are regular exam questions.
