Kerala High Court tells the State to find posts for idle PG doctors or release them from the service bond

Justice Viju Abraham of the Kerala High Court ruled on 30 September 2026 on petitions by George Balu and other post-graduate doctors.
Post-graduates of Government Medical Colleges owe a one-year senior residency bond.
Many were left without a posting for months and could not work elsewhere; the court called this a 'national waste'.
The bond period must run from the date the result is published, whether or not a posting follows soon after.
The State has one month to create additional posts or release the petitioners from the bond.
