Kerala to implement industry status for cinema with priority to art as well as marketing, draft to go to Cabinet after film bodies' views

The Culture Minister chaired a meeting of film organisations at the Government Guest House, Thycaud, on industry status for cinema, the Culture Department said on 29 September 2026.
Industry status will protect the art and cultural value of cinema while giving weight to its marketing prospects.
The draft proposals will be amended after the views of film bodies and then placed before the Cabinet.
The government announced industry status for cinema in its Budget.
Suggestions included bank loans for producers, e-ticketing, a single-window system for shooting permits and effective implementation of the POSH Act at film workplaces.
