The final shortlist of sites for the proposed All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Kerala, prepared by the State Health Department, awaits the Chief Minister's approval.
Koratty in Thrissur district has emerged as a leading contender to host the institute.
The report notes Koratty's connectivity by national highway, nearby railway stations and the airport, along with water and high-capacity electricity.
About 233 acres of government-owned land is available across several sites in Koratty, reducing the need for land acquisition.
Adjacent private land could be acquired later for expansion.
