Kochi Water Metro crosses 8 million passengers since its launch

Kochi Water Metro has carried more than 8 million passengers. KMRL figures show 80,23,171 passengers between its launch on April 26, 2023 and Nov 5, 2026, a span of about three-and-a-half years. The yearly count keeps rising: 2023-24 saw 18,44,375 riders, 2024-25 saw 21,08,148 and 2025-26 saw 24,64,559. The current financial year has seen 15,69,802 riders up to Oct 31. The service has also earned Rs 30.24 crore from tickets up to Oct 31. The Water Metro is run as a sustainable, eco-friendly way of moving people across the waters of Kochi.
