Ladakh's 'The Fifth Season' takes Pashmina to Lakme Fashion Week under the MSME Ministry's RAMP Scheme
27 October 2026
A special presentation titled 'The Fifth Season: A Fashion Story from Ladakh' was held on the concluding day of Lakme Fashion Week x FDCI 2026 at Hotel Taj Palace, New Delhi. It was conceptualised and facilitated by the Department of Industries and Commerce, UT Ladakh, under the RAMP Scheme of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, and supported by the Fashion Design Council of India. The showcase traced Pashmina from the high-altitude pastures where Changpa herders raise Changra goats to the artisans who turn the fibre into textiles. Namza by Padma Yangchan presented 18 ensembles in brocade and Pashmina, and Zilzom by Stanzin Palmo presented 18 ensembles with self-designed silk prints and contemporary versions of snambu, a traditional Ladakhi woollen textile. Changra Ladakh by Deskit Angmo and Charkha Ladakh by Rigzin Yangdol showed handspun and handwoven Pashmina shawls. The Lieutenant Governor, who addressed the event virtually, said the benefits should reach herders, weavers, women entrepreneurs and Self-Help Groups.
