Leh approved as the first sitting place of the High Court bench in Ladakh

Lt Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena approved Leh as the initial seat of the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court's bench in Ladakh on 22 September 2026. The Chief Justice of the High Court had recommended Leh; the Registrar General conveyed the recommendation on 15 September. Leh is the administrative headquarters of the UT and has suitable temporary infrastructure. The Department of Law and Justice is to coordinate with the Deputy Commissioner on protocol, judges' accommodation and security.
