Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre and its two campuses at Valiamala and Bengaluru

Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre, or LPSC, is the ISRO centre that designs, develops and realises the liquid propulsion stages of Indian launch vehicles. It also makes valves, transducers and the propellant management devices that work in vacuum, besides other key parts of a liquid propulsion system. Its work is split over two campuses, one at Valiamala and one at Bengaluru in Karnataka. The Valiamala campus carries research and development, system design and engineering, and project management, and houses the Fluid Control Components Entity, the Materials and Manufacturing Entities and the Earth Storable and Cryogenic Propulsion Entities. The Bengaluru campus designs and realises propulsion systems for remote sensing and communication satellites and for scientific missions. Transducers and sensors are also developed and produced at Bengaluru. Shri R. Hutton is the Director at Valiamala.

Campuses: Valiamala and Bengaluru Role: Liquid propulsion stages for launch vehicles
Why it matters for exams: Questions on which ISRO centre makes liquid and cryogenic stages, and where it works from, come up in science and general awareness papers.
