Meghalaya completes over 95 per cent of notice hearings and fixes a date for the final electoral roll

The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer of Meghalaya has announced that over 95 per cent of notice hearings in the electoral roll revision have been completed, and that the final electoral roll will be published on 26 October 2026. The release, numbered EL.63/2026/96, was issued by the Elections Department. Electors can check whether their names appear in the roll either through their Booth Level Officer or through the Voters' Service Portal at voters.eci.gov.in. The release also reminded voters that holding an Elector Photo Identity Card does not by itself entitle a person to vote, because the voter's name must appear in the electoral roll for the constituency concerned.

Why it matters for exams: The distinction between holding an EPIC and being on the roll is a favourite exam point, and here it comes with a dated final publication.
