More than 2.42 lakh Special Gram Sabhas held on Gandhi Jayanti as People's Plan Campaign 2026-27 begins

On Gandhi Jayanti, 2 October 2026, more than 2.42 lakh Special Gram Sabhas were scheduled on the GPDP Portal and the Panchayat NIRNAY Portal.
They marked the start of the People's Plan Campaign 2026-27, 'Sabki Yojana, Sabka Vikas', under which Panchayats prepare Panchayat Development Plans for 2027-28.
Discussions covered devolution of Central Finance Commission grants to Panchayats, Own Source Revenue, secure property and land rights, drinking water, sanitation, food security and women's economic empowerment.
The campaign is led by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj in collaboration with 21 Ministries and Departments of the Government of India.
