Nine World Heritage properties in Viet Nam, from the Complex of Hue Monuments to Ha Long Bay
Background
Viet Nam, the country whose leader is touring Europe and whose economy is drawing fresh trade agreements, holds nine properties on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Six are cultural: the Central Sector of the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long in Hanoi, the Citadel of the Ho Dynasty, the Complex of Hue Monuments, Hoi An Ancient Town, My Son Sanctuary, and the Yen Tu-Vinh Nghiem-Con Son, Kiep Bac Complex of Monuments and Landscapes. Two are natural: Ha Long Bay-Cat Ba Archipelago, and Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park and Hin Nam No National Park. One is mixed: the Trang An Landscape Complex. The Complex of Hue Monuments was inscribed in 1993 and Ha Long Bay in 1994.
In plain words
Mixed property Mixed World Heritage property — A site inscribed for both cultural and natural value; Trang An is Viet Nam's only one.
