Tipra Motha chief Pradyot Debbarma says he will leave active politics after next month

Tipra Motha Party chief Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma said in a Facebook post on the night of 6 October that he will not remain in active politics after next month. PTI (ThePrint) reported that he cited health issues; UNI reported that he said he believed the tribal community had achieved political unity and a greater awareness of its constitutional rights. He asked party workers to organise a mega rally next month, inviting all village committee chairpersons, so that he can address them once more from a political platform. He urged the Centre to implement the Tiprasa Accord, signed in March 2024 with the Union and state governments, and said Union Home Minister Amit Shah had assured that implementation would begin after Durga Puja. The announcement came as the BJP-Tipra Motha alliance swept the TTAADC village committee polls.
