Train reaches Rowghat as the 95-km Dalli-Rajhara–Rowghat line is completed

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated two broad-gauge rail lines on 20 October. The last 17.5-km stretch between Tadoki and Rowghat completes the 95-km Dalli-Rajhara–Rowghat line, built at a cost of Rs 1,628 crore. Raoghat, in the remote south of the state, now has a passenger train for the first time since Independence. The 22-km Abhanpur–Kurud section of the Abhanpur–Dhamtari gauge conversion was also opened. New passenger services were flagged off on the Raoghat–Raipur and Raipur–Kurud routes. A foundation stone was laid for an Electric Locomotive Maintenance Facility in Raipur. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw joined by video conference. Iron ore from the Rowghat area can now move faster by rail, including to the Bhilai Steel Plant.

Dalli-Rajhara–Rowghat line: 95 km Cost: Rs 1,628 crore Final stretch (Tadoki–Rowghat): 17.5 km Abhanpur–Kurud section: 22 km
Why it matters for exams: Rail links into Bastar, the Rowghat iron-ore belt and the Bhilai Steel Plant are standard Chhattisgarh geography and economy questions.
