Tripura's GI basket reaches four products with the Sarinda tag

The traditional Tripura Sarinda, a stringed musical instrument, has received the Geographical Indication tag.
With this, Tripura has four GI-tagged products.
The three recognised earlier are the Tripura Queen Pineapple, Risa and Pachra (also called Rignai), and Matabari Peda.
The Sarinda is a stringed musical instrument closely associated with the indigenous communities of the state.
A GI tag ties a product's name to a defined place of origin and the qualities that come from it.
