Viet Nam and the four EFTA countries sign a free trade agreement in Ha Noi

Viet Nam signed a free trade agreement with the member countries of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) in Ha Noi on 18 October 2026. EFTA is the intergovernmental organization of Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland, and was established in 1960. General Secretary and President To Lam attended the signing ceremony. The agreement covers trade in goods, trade in services, investment, intellectual property, government procurement, competition, small and medium-sized enterprises, dispute settlement and sustainable development, among others. The Viet Nam Government Portal says the deal is expected to help Viet Nam diversify export markets and attract high-quality investment, advanced technology and governance expertise from European economies.
