WHO publishes SAFER implementation handbook on reducing alcohol-related harm

On 30 September 2026 the World Health Organization published 'Reducing alcohol-related harm: SAFER implementation handbook'. It gives practical guidance for countries, communities and institutions that want to put WHO's SAFER initiative into practice. SAFER sits under the Global alcohol action plan 2022-2030. The handbook covers the five SAFER intervention areas and the connected strategies of Implement, Monitor and Protect.
