Danmarks Nationalbank, Denmark's central bank, raised the current-account rate, the rate of interest on certificates of deposit, the lending rate and the discount rate by 0.25 percentage point. The change took effect from 11 September 2026. The bank's rates are now: current-account rate 2.10 per cent p.a., certificates of deposit rate 2.10 per cent p.a., lending rate 2.25 per cent p.a. and discount rate 2.10 per cent p.a. The bank said the increase was a consequence of the European Central Bank raising its main monetary policy rate, the deposit facility rate, by 0.25 percentage point. The monetary policy spread against the euro area therefore remains unchanged. Denmark keeps its own currency, the krone, and runs a fixed exchange rate policy against the euro, so its rate moves usually follow the ECB.

Danmarks Nationalbank published an analysis titled 'New evidence on the inflation expectations of Danish households'. It is Analysis No. 19 of 2026 and is dated 20 October 2026. The analysis draws on the bank's new monthly expectations survey, which has covered Danish households since October 2024. It reports that inflation expectations among Danish households have been substantially lower than the peak inflation levels of 2022. It also finds that Danish households' expectations have responded to economic developments much like inflation expectations in the euro area. The bank notes that well-anchored medium-term inflation expectations matter because they influence inflation outcomes and reflect the credibility of monetary policy.

Danmarks Nationalbank issued a statement dated 20 October 2026 commenting on the Economic Council's discussion paper, Autumn 2026. The bank said it shares the Chairmanship's overall assessment of the growth outlook, expecting strong growth this year followed by a slowdown. It agreed there are no signs that significant macroeconomic imbalances are building up in the Danish economy. The bank said inflation has risen because of higher energy prices and assessed that inflation risks are to the upside. It noted that the government is planning for a structural budget deficit close to the Budget Act's deficit limit of 1 per cent of GDP, and agreed with the Chairmanship that the government should exercise caution in using the full fiscal space. The bank said the government's Finance Bill for 2027 is consistent with its own September recommendation.

Statistics Denmark reports inflation of + 2.2 per cent for September 2026, compared to the same month the year before. Core inflation, which leaves out energy and unprocessed foodstuff, is + 1.9 per cent for September 2026 on the same basis. The consumer price index follows the evolution of consumer prices for typical goods and services, and the annual change in that index is used as the measure of inflation. Statistics Denmark is the national statistical office and publishes the index monthly. Denmark is in the European Union but keeps its own currency, the krone, so Danish inflation is reported separately from the euro area figure.
