The Kerala government issued an order decentralising the full responsibility for distributing flood relief to the taluk level. Until now the distribution was centred on the district collectorates. A large number of applications had delayed scrutiny and sanction. Under the new system, government funds will be transferred directly to District Collectors. Taluk tahsildars will then credit the amount to beneficiaries' bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). C-DIT has been directed to change the software to suit the new method.
