A State government committee reviewing the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) has recommended that the Board stop borrowing from the market and stop funding projects. The panel said KIIFB's original purpose of raising money outside the State's borrowing limit no longer exists, because the Centre now counts KIIFB loans as the State's own borrowing. The Centre has already cut Rs 25,932.53 crore from the State's borrowing space on this account. The report says the State lost Rs 61,678.46 crore in receipts because of the KIIFB model, while the Board has spent or holds only Rs 48,574.82 crore. Avoidable costs, including higher interest and the Masala Bond, were pegged at Rs 1,250 crore. Only three of 44 projects labelled revenue-earning repay loans from their own income, and State government transfers met 99.4 per cent of KIIFB's debt repayment. The panel also recommended a CAG audit of KIIFB and cancellation of the order that routes motor vehicle tax and petroleum cess directly to the Board.

Yemen's economy remains under strain, having contracted again in 2025 and now facing additional pressures linked to the conflict in the Middle East, the World Bank said on 21 May 2026.
The Spring 2026 edition of the Yemen Economic Monitor, titled Pushing Against the Tide, finds that national real GDP declined by 1.5 per cent in 2025 and is projected to contract by a further 0.5 per cent in 2026.
Oil exports are still blocked, and funding for the UN Response Plan covered only 28 per cent of needs, down from 56.5 per cent in 2024.
Revenues fell to 5.6 per cent of GDP, driven by reduced external grants.
The Yemeni rial in Aden appreciated sharply in August 2025 and has since stabilized, supported by Central Bank measures and external inflows including Saudi financial support.
Nearly three-quarters of the population is estimated to live below the poverty line.
Dina Abu-Ghaida, World Bank Group Country Manager for Yemen, said the economy has limited buffers to absorb new shocks.

The Reserve Bank's announcement of a Rs 14,725 per unit price for the 2019-20 Series V gold bond shows how the early exit from these bonds works.
Under the Government of India notification F.No. 4(7)-B(W&M)/2019 dated September 30, 2019, premature redemption may be permitted after the fifth year from the date of issue.
It is allowed only on a date on which interest is payable, not on any day the holder chooses.
The redemption price is not a fixed sum: it is the simple average of the closing price of gold of 999 purity over the three business days before redemption, as published by the India Bullion and Jewellers Association Ltd.
So a holder who exits early receives the market value of gold at that moment, which is why the Reserve Bank announces a fresh price for each tranche on each redemption date.

The Reserve Bank of India has announced regulatory measures for the foreign exchange market to ensure its orderly functioning.
The limit for hedging contracted exposures without producing proof of an underlying exposure has been cut from USD 100 million to USD 5 million equivalent, across all Authorised Dealers, and the same cut applies to exchange-traded rupee currency derivatives across recognised stock exchanges together.
