Berlin hosts the Invest in Germany Summit, which reports about 230 billion euro of investment commitments
20 October 2026
The German federal government held the Invest in Germany Summit in Berlin, with Chancellor Friedrich Merz giving the opening address at the European School of Management and Technology.
About 200 international and national executives and investors took part, along with senior federal ministers.
The government said investment commitments made so far add up to about 230 billion euro.
Separately, the business initiative called Made for Germany has committed 800 billion euro to be invested in the country by 2028.
The summit also highlighted the Germany Fund, which puts in about 30 billion euro of public money and is meant to draw in more than 130 billion euro of investment.
The summit launched a wider Invest in Germany Initiative to keep supporting investors through service and dialogue, and set three focus areas: investment in key sectors such as energy, industrial artificial intelligence, semiconductors, data centres and space; mobilising private capital; and retaining investors for the long term.
The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs led the work, with the Federal Chancellery, the Federal Ministry of Finance and the Chancellor's Investment Commissioner Martin Blessing.
A reception the previous evening at Kraftwerk Berlin included a panel between Merz and Nvidia founder Jensen Huang.
