Delhi High Court grants four weeks' interim bail on medical grounds to Malviya Nagar fire building owner

The Delhi High Court on Monday, 21 September 2026, granted four weeks' interim bail to Lovkesh Bajaj on medical grounds.
Bajaj owns the Malviya Nagar hotel building where a fire in June killed several people.
Justice Sachin Datta passed the order after a medical status report from jail authorities.
Bajaj underwent major abdominal surgery on 31 August and was discharged on 15 September.
The court said he deserves release for a limited period to recuperate, and expressed no opinion on the merits of the case.
The FIR in the case invokes Sections 105 and 326 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Interim bail: 4 weeks Surgery date: 31 August 2026 BNS sections in FIR: 105 and 326
Why it matters for exams: Interim bail on medical grounds and the new criminal law sections (BNS) that replaced the IPC are frequently tested.
