Goa's Fisheries Department sells farmed Asian Sea bass at Rs 500 a kg from its Old Goa estuarine farm

Fish grown under a pilot project of Goa's Department of Fisheries went on sale at the Estuarine Fish Farm at Ela Dhauji in Old Goa.
The fish is Asian Sea bass, which Goans call Chonak.
It is priced at Rs 500 per kg.
Selling began at 2.30 pm and ran on a first come first serve basis until the day's harvest was gone.
The farm is a government estuarine facility, that is, one in brackish water where a river meets the sea.
Asian Sea bass is a high value brackish water species widely farmed in India for its fast growth and firm flesh.
The Department of Information and Publicity announced the sale for the Fisheries Department.

Species: Asian Sea bass, locally Chonak Price: Rs. 500 per kg Farm: Estuarine Fish Farm, Ela Dhauji, Old Goa
Why it matters for exams: The durable facts are that Chonak is the Goan name for Asian Sea bass and that Goa's Department of Fisheries runs an Estuarine Fish Farm at Ela Dhauji in Old Goa.
