Hridayaragam, Kerala's new public health campaign against lifestyle diseases, starts in three constituencies
30 October 2026
Kerala's Health Department has started Hridayaragam, a comprehensive public health campaign to detect lifestyle diseases at the earliest stage and ensure treatment and follow-up care.
Health Minister K. Muraleedharan released the logo and sticker of the campaign, which the government calls its flagship campaign.
It is run through primary health centres and covers diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, cancer, stroke and liver and kidney disease.
The pilot launch is in three constituencies — Vattiyoorkavu in Thiruvananthapuram, Idukki in Idukki district and Nilambur in Malappuram — after which it will be extended across the State.
Everyone above 18 will go through risk analysis and screening, and will be classified as mild, moderate or high risk.
Those in the high risk group get follow-up tests and specialist treatment within 24 hours, and the rest within two weeks.
Each newly diagnosed person is registered and given a personal health diary.
The population-based survey is done through the SHAILI app and screening through the JAK PH app, with treatment recorded in the e-Health hospital management system.
